Some Indiestuff in Berlin: Street Art and Indiekinos

Have you visited some Indiekinos in Berlin? They are worth visiting because of their atmosphere and of course because of the movies which are shown there. I found for you a nice list and map about Indiekinos in Berlin.

During the years I have visited many of them and if I remember right they show movies in original version (with subtitles). But check it before going there...Anyway for me this is an important factor when being in cinema, up to the point than the cinema has kind of old-fashioned-movie-atmosphere...

Berlin is also one of those cities where you can find very interesting Street Art all around the city.
Here for you info about Urban Art in Berlin.  Believe me, it is worth studying...

Have you already visited Museum Urban Nation in Berlin? Me yes now. Yes it is worth visiting and you do no pay anything!

Up to that some photos from Oranienstrasse and Bülowstrasse, as well as from the Friedrichshein neighbourhood and in the Subway. Do not forget Rosenthaler Strasse and Schönhauser Allee/Alte Schönhauser Strasse neither...

Couple of years ago we had here in Helsinki Buddy Bears on the Senate Square. I am sure you have seen those bears in Berlin too...

Wine from Switzerland: Autumn, interesting Places to Visit

As we are soon reaching the autumn, I though I write couple of words about wine in Switzerland. As it is worldwide maybe less known...

To get to know Swiss wine there are lots of interesting places to visit. And as Switzerland is not such a big country you can easily do that in a week by train for example.

The Wine-Festival in Neuchatel, easy to catch by train for example from Bern.

Small winevillages around the Lake Biel, also easy to catch from Bern.

The Wine-Museum in Aigle. But of course there are also in other parts of Switzerland Wine-Museums.

And why not to visit the Swiss Riviera around Montreaux, that is the Lavaux wineregion? You can take a small winetrain either from Cully or from Lutry to get to know the region. There are also possibilities to taste wine.

And finally you can take a look to the "Heidi-region", to Maienfeld in Graubünden (in German). Graubünden is also turistically one of the most interesting regions in Switzerland. In Maienfeld you learn all about the "Bündner Herrschaft" -wines.

So have a Taste of Swiss Wines!
And for Finns here my article about the Trip to Switzerland to taste the wines...

Worth seeing: Rural Sports in Switzerland

So if you want to experence something original, go to Switzerland or to Basque Country. There you can look at Rural Sports. Very interesting indeed! Every 3rd year they organize in Switzerland a Festival, or national competitions in rural sports. I was there 5 years ago, in Frauenfeld. I was also in Euskal Jaiak, Basque Country. About that tomorrow in my other blog "TastingRussiaAndSpain".

Here you can read my article about the Festivities (in Finnish). Next time it will be organized in Estavayer-de-Lac in the year 2016 and I suppose in August. As mentioned also in this article in the Swiss Newspaper from last August. So you can begin with the preparations for the trip. In the article they also infom that Kilian Wenger,

the Champion of the Eidgenössisches Schwingfest of the year 2010 has to break down his season 2015 due to injuries...

Yes, this Festival is really worth experiencing. You can see there Hornussen:

and Steinstossen (Stone Put):

and of course Schwingen (Swiss Wrestling):

as well as Fahnenschwingen (Flagspinning) and Alphorn playing.

But of course you can also see these Sportsart at other times when traveeling in Switzerland, jus keep your eyas and ears open or ask for more information when in Switzerland. You will find smaller competitions in Swiss villages...

So you are Well-Come and Well-Go to Switzerland...To buy for you a new Swatch!

Or to drink the tasty Appenzeller Beer!

Prost! Grüezi!

Festival del Film Locarno

Yes, it was a nice experience - Festival del Film Locarno.

Although this time a bit of rainy experience...but that sometimes happens when participating in a festival. Maybe an outdoors film festival or an outdoors music festival or whatever....But it is always the ambient which accounts. The good memories you bring from there home and many times also carry them through your whole life....

The best of all experiences during the Film Festival was looking at films at Piazza Grande. Those artificial lights on the walls of ancient houses of the Piazza, you looking from time to time at the lights of the nights of those hillside houses of the mountains surrounding Locarno, you staring at the stars above the Piazza...And the film screening goes on, and you are - well in kind of cinematic mood...

Kind of Independent Swiss-Bars: How relaxing...

When visiting Switzerland I try to find bars different kind as the so called normal ones. And these kind of bars you can also find in Switzerland...

When in Bern, have you visited "Sous les Ponts" - "Reitschule" or "Café Kairo", for example? In both you can find beer of very good quality, from small breweries too. And food at affordable price. Tasty too.

In Zürich there are "Rote Fabrik" and "Café Zähringer", and in Basel "Hirscheneck". To mention some of them. All these are also cultural centers with different kind of venues like concerts, films and discussions.

So do not miss the venues neither...

Visit in a Brewery in Switzerland and Germany: Nice interior, nice exterior!

Have you ever visited a brewery in Switzerland? Maybe not. Well, next time when in Switzerland go to Rheinfelden on the Switzerland-Germany border, and visit the Feldschlösschen Brauerei . It is the biggest one in Switzerland.

Nowadays there are also many small breweries in Switzerland, same way as in many other countries. Another well known brewery making a variaty of very good beers is Appenzeller .

Oh, how I like Appenzeller! For me a Must every time when in Switzerland.

But now to Germany. I am sure you have visited Berlin. If you travel to the east from there to the German-Polish border, Frankfurt-and-der-Oder and further towards south to Eisenhüttenstadt. Near Eisenhüttenstadt you can find a small village called Neuzelle. A monastery and a brewery
Neuzeller Kloster-Brauerei.

Go and do the tasting. Their beers are little bit sweeter than the normal ones. And once they had to fight for their beers. That they could be called "Beers"...
