Architecture all the way

I visited Jura, the very western part of Switzerland a city called La Chaux-de-Fonds. The city with endless streets, you could put that way...

That is a city where a world known architecture Le Corbusier was born. And also a city belonging to the network of Jugendstil or Art Noveau. In the Art Nouveau Network you can find quite a lot of cities around the world.

Villa Turque. La Corbusier.
By the way, have you visited already the Pavillon Le Corbusier in Zurich? Also worth visiting as I noticed today.

I found out that there is also in Zürich ZAZ Bellerive - A Story about the Swiss Defence Bunkers. Really on the opposite site of the Pavillon Le Corbusier...To visit the Bunkers I did not manage this time. As you must reserve in beforehand through internet. Next time I will do it for sure!

Anyway - in the museum you can see  read  short stories and see a film about Switzerlands' ways of national defending. Quite interesting. I also noticed that there is in Zürich a Museum of Civil Defence. That for sure I also will visit next time.

Talking about the architecture...If you are interested in Art Nouveau, you should visit Finland. And the capital of Finland, Helsinki is then the place to visit.

It is really worth walking around in Helsinki as you can see here. For you here the info and maps in different languages. So welcome to Finland and Helsinki. Above all in the summer Helsinki is also a party town all those white nights of the summer along...And you can find there a wide variety of interesting restaurants nowadays.

In continuing with the architecture I visited the Vitra Museum in Weil in Rhein, I found there in the museum premises lots of architectural findings as well, as the Vitra buildings are designed by global known architects as...

So if you are interested in Swiss Architecture...Visit the Architecture Museum in Basel.

And I checked it now in the beginning of the year 2019. Very little to be seen there...unfortunately. They told me that in the museum combining 2 museums that they have only one exhibition about the architecture at a time...Well...

Design all the way

Yes indeed...On Monday I visited from Basel on the German side, and the Vitra Design Museum in Weil am Rhein.

It was really a nice experience. You can enjoy there not only Vitra design but also design from the world wide known designers (kind of a showcase), as to mention here the famous Finnish designer Alvar Aalto or Eero Saarinen.

And you can get an overview of the history of design, the different decades of design.

My design week went on, I thought, with a visit in the Design Museum of Zürich....

But I could not do it as the museum was closed because of the renovation. But something nice happened to me instead. I could take apart in an one-hour-visit to the basement of the Zürich University of the Arts (Hochschüle de Künste -  HDK), the storerooms of the Design Museum of Zürich.

And what we could see and here there! I will remember it always and for sure visit the museum when it reopens!

These suggestions of design for the Swiss were not accepted by people. The black one was called "The Cave".
The poster collection was super! Until 12 or so years ago they collected every poster made in Switzerland.
If I remember right these are the collages of Herbert Matter.

The Dada Dolls. Splendid!
Bye-Bye.
Design Museum of Zürich reopens in the beginning of the year 2018.
So they inform and I will be there!
....

And in the beginning of the year 2019 I was there.  To see really interesting objects about the housing culture in Switzerland. But almost the most interesting issue this time was the Photo exhibition "Genesis" of the Brazilian photographer Sebastiao Salgado . Go to see the exhibition if you ever have the possibility!

Heavy Arts, Heavy Music and though at the end a peaceful mind

Today I visited Gruyères for the first time. That visit was already for some years in my mind...

Do you know HRGiger

If not you for sure know the film "Alien". He has designed "Alien". And his arts...Well you should check it yourself. Some like it, some maybe not.

Anyway, I checked it now. As well as the Giger Bar there....I think now we could listen to a Swiss Folk Metal and "Eluveitie". Here for you! And if you are interested in Finnish Folkmetal groups here info for you!

...and in couple of days I will visit Chur where Giger was born. Just wait for some photos...

In Gruyères you can also find a Tibetan Museum. Visit it if you need some rest after Giger Museum.

But do you know? I just found in internet a Swiss band, which plays Tibetan rock. The band is called Porok Karpo  and here for you a nice piece from them! Do you like it as I do? I was also very pleased to find out that here in Switzerland the Tibetans nowadays sell Tibetan momos, which I find very-very tasty...

Bye-Bye...Au revoir...Auf Wiedersehen

und bis bald.
