Wine from Switzerland: Autumn, interesting Places to Visit

As we are soon reaching the autumn, I though I write couple of words about wine in Switzerland. As it is worldwide maybe less known...

To get to know Swiss wine there are lots of interesting places to visit. And as Switzerland is not such a big country you can easily do that in a week by train for example.

The Wine-Festival in Neuchatel, easy to catch by train for example from Bern.

Small winevillages around the Lake Biel, also easy to catch from Bern.

The Wine-Museum in Aigle. But of course there are also in other parts of Switzerland Wine-Museums.

And why not to visit the Swiss Riviera around Montreaux, that is the Lavaux wineregion? You can take a small winetrain either from Cully or from Lutry to get to know the region. There are also possibilities to taste wine.

And finally you can take a look to the "Heidi-region", to Maienfeld in Graubünden (in German). Graubünden is also turistically one of the most interesting regions in Switzerland. In Maienfeld you learn all about the "Bündner Herrschaft" -wines.

So have a Taste of Swiss Wines!
And for Finns here my article about the Trip to Switzerland to taste the wines...

Worth seeing: Rural Sports in Switzerland

So if you want to experence something original, go to Switzerland or to Basque Country. There you can look at Rural Sports. Very interesting indeed! Every 3rd year they organize in Switzerland a Festival, or national competitions in rural sports. I was there 5 years ago, in Frauenfeld. I was also in Euskal Jaiak, Basque Country. About that tomorrow in my other blog "TastingRussiaAndSpain".

Here you can read my article about the Festivities (in Finnish). Next time it will be organized in Estavayer-de-Lac in the year 2016 and I suppose in August. As mentioned also in this article in the Swiss Newspaper from last August. So you can begin with the preparations for the trip. In the article they also infom that Kilian Wenger,

the Champion of the Eidgenössisches Schwingfest of the year 2010 has to break down his season 2015 due to injuries...

Yes, this Festival is really worth experiencing. You can see there Hornussen:

and Steinstossen (Stone Put):

and of course Schwingen (Swiss Wrestling):

as well as Fahnenschwingen (Flagspinning) and Alphorn playing.

But of course you can also see these Sportsart at other times when traveeling in Switzerland, jus keep your eyas and ears open or ask for more information when in Switzerland. You will find smaller competitions in Swiss villages...

So you are Well-Come and Well-Go to Switzerland...To buy for you a new Swatch!

Or to drink the tasty Appenzeller Beer!

Prost! Grüezi!
